In praise of the women
I am always disappointed when I speak to fellow women golf enthusiasts about LPGA tournaments and am met with a total lack of interest. Often, they haven’t even heard of some of the top women in the sport, but they know, and avidly follow, the men.
I loved watching the AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath. Lilia Vu was such a worthy winner, and Charley Hull put up an incredible fight. As well as thoroughly enjoying the skill of the players, I was delighted to see their interaction with the crowd, particularly the children. The men’s game is exciting, but the women’s game is somehow more accessible and a wonderful learning opportunity for keen golfers.
