The European Caravan Federation, comprising 15 member countries, had a whopping six million camping vehicles on its roster in 2020. Most of these, 3,5 million caravans and 2,4 million motorhomes, are registered in Western Europe, in countries that include Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, which boast the largest market share in terms of ownership.
The large number of camping vehicles on European roads has resulted in decades of active collaboration between manufacturers and progressive legislators in the European Union. This has increasingly led to innovative adjustments to legislation and regulations related to caravans and motorhomes.
