This past October, a group of climate protestors threw a can of tomato soup at Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers (left). The protestors’ aim was to garner national media attention with the stunt by publicly “vandalizing” the famous painting (which was protected by glass and therefore not actually damaged). The protestors achieved their goal of going viral, in part due to the fact that they chose an absolutely iconic van Gogh painting. Ironically enough, Sunflowers would have been worth next to nothing at the time of its creation.
