Massive fan protests are mighty hot right now: tennis balls thrown at Borussia Dortmund, thousands storming out of Anfield, even bigger walkouts planned... So when referee Barry Cook looked up and saw umpteen Partick Thistle fans waving fake yellow cards, he probably wasn’t too perturbed – Celtic fans did something similar in 1988.
He might, however, have been surprised that those cards came from the club. Two thousand of them, in fact, handed out before the match. Take that, today’s matchday officials!
