Taking shapes
Wondering which pasta is best for your dish? Generally larger shapes, such as tubes, work best with thick, robust sauces, while skinny options, like vermicelli, are better suited to light sauces. To help you along, we have compiled a handy guide.
PASTA SHAPE: Shells. EXAMPLES: Conchiglie, lumache. SERVE WITH: Heavy cream or meat sauces; large shells can be stuffed.
PASTA SHAPE: Long and skinny. EXAMPLES: Spaghetti, linguine, fusilli lunghi, vermicelli. SERVE WITH: Light seafood sauces as well as cream-or oil-based pasta sauces.
