Following in the tracks of its larger sibling, the Legacy 500, Embraer’s fly-by-wire controlled Legacy 450 is now officially ready for market introduction in the United States, Europe and Brazil, having received the coveted sign offs from the FAA, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC). Embraer says the first Legacy 450 is slated for delivery by year-end.
Embraer exceeded several design targets for the twinjet, including range, payload, and takeoff and landing distance. The Legacy 450 sets a high bar for the midlight jet segment with a top speed of Mach 0.83, a range of 2,575 nm and full fuel payload of 1,675 pounds.
