‘I’m always making new friends’
Hannah Fox, 33, lives in London and joined a hockey team nine years ago.
‘In 2007, I moved to London to find work. It felt daunting, but I wanted to meet new people. I’d played hockey at uni, so I joined Battersea Wanderers (wanderershockeyclub.co.uk).
The club holds events, such as blacktie dinners, so I’ve got to know other teams. We play in a league in Surrey, so sometimes we travel to matches with other clubs in the area, which adds to team bonding. Our squad is 18 players, so there are usually enough for a team of 11, including the goalkeeper, and reserves. After the match, we all pile into the clubhouse for tea.
