The workhorse night vision device currently fielded by US forces is the AN/PVS-14 (Army/Navy Portable Visual Search) monocular. Utilizing military grade Generation 3 technology, this compact device has proven extremely effective in combat. It is also hugely popular on the commercial market. SIG Sauer ushered in the current, modern age of sub- and micro-compact 9mm pistols with their P365. Springfield Armory was right on their heels the next year with the Hellcat, and they had huge success with the Hellcat, as not only was it substantively a different product than the P365, in many ways it was objectively better.
