Daytona USA The racing game that defined the arcade era, the 1993 cult classic Daytona USA was a masterpiece at the time, featuring incredible graphics and arguably the catchiest theme song ever by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi. Honestly, go to YouTube now and have a listen, it’s incredible. Perhaps the most recognizable arcade racing game of all time and the highest-grossing sit-down cabinet ever, Daytona USA remains a shining example of arcade racing at its absolute purest. Featuring some of the craziest driving at the time, it also featured 8 player support and was an arcade hit till the end of the dominance of arcades. Sadly the home releases failed to live up to the arcade hype and Sega’s struggling Saturn system did not do the greatest arcade racer of all time…

Since your last FHM cover (USA), what has changed in your life? Well, I’ve really focused on my business, and growing as a person. “The greatest improvement to Land Rover’s Terrain Response system has been the addition of an Auto mode.” We’ve already commended the Defender’s breadth of ability, the way it massages the city grind without contempt. We’ve praised the ride quality, the silkiness of the engine and have been impressed by the thoughtful homages to the original - except for the perhaps the rear-mounted spare wheel which adds a lot of weight to the side-hinged door when gravity is working against you. Certain markets have waited a painfully long time for the arrival of the Clio V which has a left wide gap for rival brands to rake in customers with their newer wares. In the interim, Renault products like the Kiger have absorbed some of those sales but these products simply lack the pizzaz of the Clio. It was a slightly incongruent sequence of events; there we were thumbing the latest connectivity features within the FordPass app - now available in the current Everest line-up - while around the world Ford was simultaneously announcing the all-new Everest. Never before has a product felt so new and so archaic in parallel but it did highlight that the Everest has led a very full and healthy life, right to the very end.
