An ankle injury has tripped up Justin Bieber’s attempts to complete the terms of his sentence in a vandalism case filed after he threw eggs at his neighbor’s house last year. Probation officials wrote in a report filed Tuesday that Bieber cited a severe ankle sprain he suffered during a soccer game as the reason he couldn’t complete five days of community labor as planned in early January. Singer-pianist Diana Krall wants to make one thing clear about “Wallflower,” her new CD: It’s a pop album, not a jazz album. For her 12th album, Krall enlisted fellow British Columbian David Foster, a 16-time Grammy winner. Three Rock and Roll Hall of Famers provide background vocals on several tracks: Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Timothy B. Schmit of the Eagles (on his own “I Can’t Tell You Why”). Brian Williams’ nightly newscast on NBC was beaten soundly in the ratings by ABC’s “World News Tonight” on Friday, two days after Williams apologized for telling a false story about being in a helicopter hit by a grenade in Iraq 12 years ago. The Nielsen company said that ABC’s broadcast had 8.46 million viewers on Friday, while NBC’s “Nightly News” had just under 8 million. Williams anchored the newscast for NBC. While it’s not unusual for ABC to win some individual days in the ratings, NBC has been consistently winning on a week-to-week basis. After a very strong five-year run as a winter music attraction, viewership for the Grammy Awards dipped to 24.8 million this year on British soul singer Sam Smith’s big night.
