A few months back, Ever Anderson could have been spotted standing outside Ralphs grocery in rollers and full glam. Her father, filmmaker Paul W. S. Anderson, pushed a cart through the store behind her, full of muffins, potato chips, energy drinks, and Diet Coke. The then 16-year-old was stocking up just before welcoming a film crew into her home, embarking on a series of night shoots for her first short film, Almost Seventeen, which she wrote and directed. The storyline is loosely based on Anderson’s own friendship challenges, stemming from some squabbles over a young man.
