Mulled wine is a classic winter beverage and glögi is the Finnish version of this delicious, warming and social drink. Of course glögi typically features the central ingredient, wine, but a delicious non-alcoholic alternative utilises either blackcurrant juice or red grape juice, perhaps even cranberry or pomegranate if you are so inclined. To make it, you need one litre of juice or wine, two cinnamon sticks broken into pieces, five cardamom seeds, two teaspoons of citrus peel, five crushed cloves, a pinch of nutmeg, 5cm of fresh chopped ginger, anise seeds, one sliced apple, a third of a cup of raisins, a teaspoon of chopped almonds and half a cup of sugar.
