The problem of faulty toilets is still affecting many people across South Africa. And, in one case at least, it’s become so extreme it’s resulted in tragedy – the death of a senior citizen.
A 69-year-old resident of an RDP house in Silvertown township in KwaZakhele, Eastern Cape, has reportedly starved herself to death because she was too embarrassed to use her faulty loo. She reasoned that if she didn’t eat, she would have no need to use the toilet.
