Photographing cherry blossoms in Japan is a cliché. I try to avoid clichés, yet here I am, transfixed by their beauty. I made this image a year or so ago, but stumbled across it while browsing a folder for something else. The pink and magenta hues struck me and lifted my spirits, a welcome reprieve from the dark and depressing news stories of the day.
So I thought I’d share it now as we transition from the cold, dark winter months to the longer days of spring, hoping it might lift your spirits, too. It feels like a vibrant, colourful, joyous image, and we could all use a bit of that.
