In a Vientiane workshop set amidst a lush green compound filled with birdsong, there are weavers, spinners, dyers and a designer hard at work. Working with Thai filament silk, hemp from China, bouclé and noil silks from Italy, and artisan-spun cotton from Laos and Vietnam, the weavers of Soie de Lune create sumptuous textiles, patternless nubby fabrics and featherweight rice-paper silks.
