IT MIGHT COME as a surprise, but I don’t really have the legs to be a burlesque dancer. But if I were to make a sudden career change, I’d most certainly want an exotic name; tropical even. Honeysuckle Huck perhaps.
Tropical snappers, of which there are many, boast an array of names that could pass as the most bountiful of burlesque boppers. Flame, Rose, Ruby, Tangs, Saddletail, Stripy, Moses, Longnose – all fall under the tropical snapper moniker.
“Most of us recognise the pink-red skin and white flesh of the southern-caught pagrus auratus as snapper,” says John Susman of seafood consultancy Fishtales. “But the array of tropical snappers, some 60 species, come in a veritable treasure trove of shapes, sizes, colours and forms.”
