•Lidl Côtes du Rhône Villages 2015, France (£4.29) A keenly priced crowd-pleaser for autumn parties. Soft, with ripe blackberry fruit and a spicy hint of clove.
•The Forgotten One Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Haut-Poitou, France (£6.99, Aldi) Easy drinking, with a scent of freshly cut lemons, and quite light at just 12 per cent alcohol. A refreshing aperitif or party white.
•Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Riesling 2016, Germany (£6.99, down to £5.59 8-28 Nov, Waitrose) Rounding out my party trio, here’s one for drivers and abstainers: a new no-alcohol white with a crisp, zesty lime note. Tangy but not too dry.
