Elsies man killed

Elsies River police are investigating a murder after the body of a 25-year-old man was found dumped near a shopping mall. Cops said the man was identified as Ryan Johnson from Eureka Estate and he was found near the Dee Bee Centre situated in Owen Road and Adriaanse Street on Saturday. STREET BALLIN’

WITH less than 100 days to go until the Netball World Cup in Cape Town, a street netball initiative now gives young girls a kans to show off their skills. The regional Street Netball program, created by Sporting Chance, is part of the City of Cape Town’s countdown to the World Cup and saw more than 700 girls under the age of 13 take to the streets on Friday. Street Netball’s launch took place simultaneously in the communities of Grassy Park, Elsies River, Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha, Langa, Mfuleni, Ocean View and Nomzamo. Sixteen teams of six participated in an adjusted five-a-side variant of the game. Lisolethu Qwesha, from Seven Strikers in Khayelitsha, says this is an excellent opportunity for young girls to take their sport to the next level.…

‘Agent’ Modack’s top secret files

Alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack has threatened to release “top secret” documents ahead of his murder trial at the Western Cape High Court. Modack, who is set to stand trial for the murder of slain Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detective lieutenant-colonel Charl Kinnear, made the dramatic statement at Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Friday as he protested against the case being moved to the Western Cape High Court. NSFAS probing ‘fraud’

Glitches Students told Weekend Argus of numerous glitches, alleged hacking and fraudulent withdrawals from the e-accounts. “Imagine receiving a notification that there is R14 000 in your account in the evening. And you don’t have data to transfer it to your private bank account. And then in the dead of night someone is helping themselves to the money,” said a student at Boland College, Caledon campus. The alleged fraudsters appeared as Joy Monza, Magandula, Mohammed or Nonja on the students’ bank statements. NSFAS said it was aware of the “reported allegations” and had launched a probe.…
