Abandoned
Morris appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court and abandoned her bail bid amid an uproar from residents, who demanded answers from the Department of Social Development. It was after revelations that the child was tortured and the social worker informed.
The family also revealed that they were told the child was starved and forced to eat hot meat off a grill when he cried for food, resulting in burn marks on his mouth.
Morris has been charged with two counts of child abuse, one count of murder and one count of defeating the ends of justice.
Aunt Melanie Ramos said they want no less than a life sentence: “We were told the victim impact assessments were only handed in today [Thursday] and the case was postponed to 23 November.…
