A DELFT family has been left heartbroken after a 17-year-old boy was killed on the same day he buried his friend.
Barrend Irion aka Benny was shot and killed in Leeu Street at 12.45pm on Saturday after he was robbed by a local gang known for smashing and grabbing in the area.
Daniel van Neel, Benny’s grandfather, said the teen was killed around the corner from their home: “These laaities that stay by Gateway call themselves the TOB (Terrible Oka Boys) and they target any guy that goes into the area.
“On Saturday they tried to rob Benny and his friend.
“They tried to fight back but Benny was shot while running away and the friend was shot in the shoulder.”
