After Peter Sagan broke a prototype in 2020, Roval spent two years redeveloping the Alpinist CLX II to make them safely tubeless-ready.
The brand, owned by Specialized, claims the new tubeless setup allows for lower rolling resistance, better handling and better flat protection. According to Roval, the new wheelset features the most precise carbon layup it has ever created, having played with more than 150 different iterations, and it has undergone a serious amount of impact and on-road testing. As such, Roval claims the Alpinist CLX II can handle almost double the impact force required by the UCI to qualify for safe use.
