The menâs quartet of Ethan Hayter, Dan Bigham, Charlie Tanfield and Ethan Vernon faced Australia in their final, just 24 hours after their opponents shattered the world record in the event by 1.3 seconds. GB trailed by a tyreâs width coming into the final lap, when Hayter slipped off his saddle, triggering a loud gasp inside the velodrome. The 25-year-old completed the lap sitting on his bikeâs top tube, and GB lost out by two seconds.
