Activity at the Dakota Cars workshop has resulted in good progress on the rebuild of Ian Austin’s Model T since we last visited. Lockdown created some issues with sourcing the raw materials needed, so attention was switched to areas that could be completed instead. the basics are now all in position The wiring is now installed, and the brakes, steering and suspension have all been overhauled. At the same time, the sewing machines have been humming merrily at nearby JK Upholstery, with much of the trimming now complete, even though the car is not yet ready to receive it. Lost for words Dear CC, could all Cultivated Carrot readers please pick up the June/July issue before carrying on reading this letter. Got it? Okay, I will begin. It’s another small whinge I’m afraid. Personally, I like to read the article first then study and drool over the pictures whilst reading the captions accompanying them. Now I can’t be 100% on this because I haven’t been in the loft to drag out recent issues but I think it mainly relates to the Out & About articles, and it is a recurring thing like it is purposely done. A few years ago, some friends with a shared passion for classic cars and motor cycles, headed up by Darren Dupree, decided to hold a car show. The one-off event aimed to raise money for charity, whilst providing a fun day for all the family to enjoy. Much to the surprise of the organisers, though, people then started asking what would happen next, and if a monthly meet would start up. And so a breakfast meet was planned to judge the response. About 10 cars turned up to the first one but, as word got around, that increased to 20, then 30, with one summer meet attracting around 100 cars.
