COVID-19, a word and virus that has slipped into our lives domestically and worldwide. Because of a lack of vaccines, misinformation and a Brazilian president who refused the shipment of the vaccines early in the pandemic, no place in South America has been hit harder than Brazil. China offered the vaccine to the country but its president, Jair Bolsonaro, refused it, saying on his social media page, “The Brazilian people will not be anyone’s guinea pig.”
