Fielding this magazine’s questions at the appropriately Zen-like confines of a private room in a Japanese restaurant in Singapore, soon after introducing his brand’s latest automaton wristwatch called ‘Magic Lotus’, Jaquet Droz CEO Christian Lattmann appears to be in a quietly triumphant mood.
For one, the Magic Lotus, the biggest highlight for Jaquet Droz for 2019, marked another technical milestone for the brand. Where before, the brand enlisted help from the likes of François Junod and Christophe Claret, an automaton specialist and master watchmaker, respectively, to make its automaton wristwatches, the Magic Lotus was completely conceived and made in-house. “This is a very proud moment for us,” he says.
