Spring is upon us in all its glory and so is color. After a drab and dreary winter it is about time. I wanted to bring all the colors of spring into your home, as well as give you the opportunity to maybe try out some styles of crochet that you haven’t tried in the past. Several patterns in this issue are dedicated to how to use crochet to create an image on your piece. Colorwork images can be worked in several techniques in crochet: corner-tocorner, tapestry, stranded colorwork, filet and mtarsia crochet. We bring in a little bit of each with fabulous projects for all around the house. I don’t think a week goes by that someone doesn’t say to me, “I love to crochet, but I can’t read the patterns.” I usually politely ask them, when they are playing on the internet, if they know what the abbreviations LOL (“laughing out loud”) and BRB (“be right back”) mean. They always do. Just like using abbreviations on the internet, abbreviations are used in patterns to make the written pattern shorter. And in truth, although we may not realize it, we want those abbreviations used. Be honest, would you want to open Crochet World magazine and discover there were only four patterns inside?
