Woof! How to Celebrate National Dog Day! Pardon the dog-related pun: throw a stick at any calendar and it will land on a day on which a holiday is celebrated. I’m not referring to commonly known religious or legal holidays, I’m talking about the 1,000+ off-beat celebrations such as National Dog Day, August 26. We humans have a looooong history with canines. Dogs evolved from wolves somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 years ago and were the first domesticated animals.
