Flannel made from 100% cotton is easy to work with and a suitable fabric for a variety of garments and home-décor items. Pre-quilted flannel is often used to make quilts and blankets. Use cotton varieties when making robes, pajamas, boxer shorts, pants, loungewear, shirts, sheets, pillowcases, blankets, baby clothing, pockets and quilts.
Wool flannel varieties are available in various widths and blends, such as 50% polyester/50% wool or 97% wool/3% Lycra. Wool varieties absorb 20% to 30% moisture, are cooler and more flame-resistant than cotton varieties and are strong, durable and wrinkle-resistant. Use wool varieties to construct suits, rugs, quilts, costumes, pants, skirts, scarves, blouses, capes, bags, softies, hats, dresses, vests, coats and uniforms.
