There will be several workshops for beginners in metalwork, as well as extending students’ skills in the new Intermediate Metalwork classes. Workshop projects are structured to build students’ skills and confidence in sawing, filing and soldering. As well as riveting and other ‘cold’ connections: Cold connections are fastening things to metal, metal to metal, without soldering or any other heat applied. Very popular last year was the beginners’ workshop; Etching Copper and Brass, doming metal and making a bracelet by using cold connections, setting the copper pieces on Sterling Silver (see photograph of bracelet).
