The Petersons model the sort of vintage denim that shoppers might find inside their store, Folkling.
Leney Peterson has always been a collector at heart. “I grew up with a love for thrifting, and when I was on the road a lot as a photojournalist, I’d pick and sell vintage between photo jobs,” she says, with most sales taking place via her Instagram account, Folkling (@folkling), founded in 2017.
Two years later, on a trip home to Virginia, Leney met Owen, now her husband. “We bonded over our love for cool old things,” she says. When the pandemic hit, much of Leney’s photography work stopped, so the couple decided to focus on Folkling full time and, in late 2020, they spotted a “For Rent” sign on…
