There have been concerns that Alexa is listening in to everything we say and spying on us. This is only partially true. Amazon only listens in when it thinks it hears the wake word (usually Alexa), although this can be triggered by mistake. Once heard, Amazon then records and stores the requests. Bloomberg discovered that Amazon had employed staff to listen to these recordings in order to help train Alexa to better understand what’s being asked.
