Broxanne Checkley, 35, lives in Brighton with her partner, Paul, 35 and their Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Riley, 11.
She says, “Before the pandemic, running a live music venue was not only fun, but an easy way to drink socially without anyone noticing I had a problem.
“My venue had to close throughout all the lockdowns. The toll on my mental health was huge and, with nothing to do, I started drinking earlier in the day, and for longer. I’d easily drink the recommended limit of 14 units a week, in a day, up to four times a week – having a couple of bottles of prosecco and some cocktails in a night.
