Emma, 35, from Swindon, works in children’s services. Five years ago, she moved to the village of Goatacre with her husband, David, 38, where they set up Goatacre Animal Sanctuary for rescued animals.
Emma says, “When David and I set up the sanctuary, we thought we’d adopt a few animals, but we quickly discovered so many were in need. We now look after eight goats, eight pigs, six sheep, four rabbits, two turkeys, 15 guinea pigs and 40 chickens. Our turkeys were going to be slaughtered for a Christmas dinner, so we rehomed them.
