Sarah’s Law – or the Child Sex Offenders’ Disclosure Scheme – came into force in 2011 following public outrage over the murder of Sarah Payne by convicted paedophile Roy Whiting. EastEnders is set for some of its most heartbreaking scenes ever, when seven months pregnant Shabnam Masood suffers a stillbirth. Working closely with neonatal death and stillbirth charity Sands, the BBC1 soap hopes to tackle what is, sadly, a not uncommon but little talked about subject. Actress Rakhee Thakrar, 31, who plays Shabnam, tells Closer: “When I found out about the story I felt incredibly sad, then the feelings of responsibility crept in.
