It’s no secret that the Greek diet is one of the healthiest in the world. In fact, residents on the island of Ikaria have a remarkably long life expectancy, with one in three hitting their ’90s, and scientists think it’s down to diet. “What you eat really matters,” says Tonia Buxton, nutritionist for ITV’s Good Morning Britain. “Greek food is all about fresh, seasonal produce such as vegetables, fruits, beans, olive oil, yoghurt, local cheeses, honey and measured amounts of meat and fish. But you don’t have to spend hours cooking as there are lots of quick dishes that taste great and are healthy too.”
