“They also have a lower risk of heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes and other common conditions.
“The Mediterranean diet is rich in beans, vegetables, fruits, nuts, olive oil and fish, with moderate amounts of red wine. It’s low in meat and saturated fat,” adds Azmina.
“In your cooking, use more plant-based foods, add less salt and choose healthier fats (eg olive oil, nuts and avocado). And take time to savour the flavours rather than rushing meals.”
