I still get a child-like excitement from all the anticipation and build-up, but it does come with the annual problem of choosing presents for family and friends. It’s one thing knowing that someone is a keen shooter, golfer or photographer. But if you don’t have the same interests, how can you guess what they might find useful? CPSA classifications will be issued four times a year instead of twice under new rules that come into effect on 1 December. You will also need to shoot more targets to gain a classification. Going down a class will require a minimum of 600 targets, and you can only drop one class over a period of 24 months. Plus, there will be a formal classification review procedure and a moderating panel. The changes were announced by the CPSA following a review designed to improve the effectiveness of the classification system. Elis Jones shot an almost perfect 100/299 to take high gun and help Clwyd secure victory in the Welsh Inter-County DTL championship at Mid Wales Shooting Ground, writes Allan Jones. More than 100 competitors gathered to contest the title, representing Anglesey, Clwyd, Gwynedd, Powys, Mid Glamorgan, Gwent and Dyfed, with Gwent fielding a team of colts and Powys a team of juniors. The weather was dull and damp, contrasting with the mood of the shooters who were bright and cheery. The ground was running like a well-oiled machine, and there were several perfect 25/75s on the scoreboard by the end of the first round. George Digweed MBE and EJ Churchill are hosting a fundraising clay shoot on 26 May 2020 to help Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby get to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The shoot returns to West Wycombe Park for the second consecutive year. George will set game-themed stands in the park to include grouse, pheasant and partridge, and the day will include breakfast, a mid-morning break, drinks on the South Colonnade, followed by lunch, prize giving and auction. The auction will include a Magneto performance eyewear kit from Pilla Sport, worth £3,000 and donated by Philip Pilla, and a full barrel service and refinish from Bromley & Son, worth £200 and donated by Danny Bromley. Silver for Amber Amber Hill won a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup Final in Al Ain. Only a world record performance of 59 from China’s Men Wei prevented Amber from topping the podium. The two were level heading into the gold medal match, both missing one target. Amber, from Bracknell, pushed the Chinese shooter all the way, but her final score of 55 left her in second place. Bronze went to the USA’s Amber English.
