Does anyone know who, exactly, is calling Morrissey “a dog on a chain”? He’s provoked other colourful epithets, but canine references have been sparse. Few, anyway, would claim he’s on a leash: he’s regularly stirring up controversy with his pronouncements, if not his records.
Fortunately, headlines about his 13th solo album ought to focus on how it’s better than its many predecessors, not least California Son, 2019’s covers collection.
