GT spec was a Mk1 must-have, featuring a Weber carb, four-branch exhaust manifold and high-lift cam – producing 64 bhp from the 1300GT or 82 bhp in the 1600GT (72 bhp/86 bhp from September 1970). There was also a troublesome 2000GT from 1969, with a 93 bhp Corsair V4 powerplant and 107 mph capability. GTs gained a close-ratio gearbox (in the 1600/2000GT), servo brakes (added to the 1300GT in 1970), radial tyres, six-dial dash, stainless pedals, two-speed wipers, door armrests, centre console, clock and fag lighter. Most came with XL or XLR packs.
