Chief mechanic then engineer for Ford Motorsport, Bill Meade helped develop the Escort Twin Cam, Monte Fiestas, RS200 and much more. “IN 1967, ON SEEING A PROTOTYPE MK1 ESCORT BEING TESTED, HE SAID, 'BLIMEY, ONE OF THOSE WOULD GO LIKE HELL WITH A TWIN-CAM ENGINE IN IT...'” We are sorry to record the passing of yet another of Boreham's original stalwarts, Bill Meade, who died on June 30, at 86 years of age. Bill, who started work at Dagenham in 1958, was one of the four heroes who joined Motorsport in 1962, originally working at Lincoln Cars in Brentford, before becoming an original mechanic at Boreham from its opening in 1963.
