Throttle bodies: the different types DCOE pattern The most common pattern, replicates that of the sidedraught DCOE — although, in a lot of cases, these can be used upright, replacing the DCNF where space is tight or most commonly on V-engines where the induction is more suited to being upright. Most commonly, associated with Jenvey, although Weber make this pattern and more latterly Omex’s examples shown. All these typically bolt straight to the same inlet manifold and are often a direct replacement — each body consists of a pair of chokes — and in this case parallel bores, joined in pairs in a similar way to a DCOE/DCNF. Throttle bodies: the components Fuel Rail A common shaft, which links the fuel injectors providing them with fuel — it’s often open-ended, allowing a return path back to the fuel delivery system as a sort of pressure relief device. The Omex fuel rail shown is refined in that it’s friendlier towards the ever developing series of fuel injectors, allowing longer/older-pattern injectors to be used with air filters. FUEL INJECTOR This is a solenoid valve, which takes the place of the carburettor’s system of main jets, air correction jets, emulsion tubes, power valves — basically, the internal mechanical system of fuel delivery, which is precisely controlled in varying amounts according to the system’s mapping.
