BRIGHTWELLS, TIMED ONLINE, DECEMBER 4-9
Brightwells held its final classic car sale of 2021 on December 4-9, sticking to its regular timed online format. Once again it featured an incredibly diverse range of entries, with over 150 consignments spanning the best part of 80 years and ranging from pre-war rarities to modern starter classics.
Undoubtedly the sale’s best performer was a W123-generation Mercedes 280TE in seven-seater guise. Showing 98,898 miles, it was registered right at the end of W123 production in 1987 and was undoubtedly in tidy condition, but still caused a major surprise when it sailed past its £3000-£5000 estimate to sell for a remarkable £20,720! Other attractive estates, albeit not at quite the same headline figures, included a 2003 BMW E39 525i Touring that sold mid-reserve at £3529…
