My 1997 Kawasaki ZX-7R was lot number 405 in Bonhams auction at October’s Stafford classic show. Standing at the side of the sale room, I watched the hammer come down on lot 388, a 1988 Kawasaki ZX-10, at £3600; lot 390, a 1989 Yamaha FZR1000 Exup, at £3200; and lot 396, a 1986 Suzuki RG500, at £16,000. It made me think that maybe prices for the next generation of classics have taken off.
Then came lot 403, a clean 1993 Honda VFR750 with just 16,614 miles, in that excellent pearl white paint. Its estimate was £1500-2500, but it went for £850. So much for prices taking off. What hope for my Kawasaki?
