1930 Montgomery Fast Road Tourer
H&H Auctions, NNM, November 15
A very credible alternative to a Brough Superior – and carrying a similar price tag – this wonderful JAP-engined machine was painstakingly restored by marque expert Geoff Keeling during the Covid lockdown. It has since completed the 2023 Banbury Run while performing faultlessly.
Like Brough, Montgomery bought in top quality components from outside specialists, producing frames and forks (some of which they supplied to Brough Superior) in-house. The Bury St Edmunds firm built its first bike in 1913, but Montgomery never resumed motorcycle production after WWII – and they remain rare finds. handh.co.uk
