It probably seems counterintuitive, but sometimes particular issues of Classic American seem to just plan themselves into themes, without any guidance externally from me or any of the rest of the magazine’s editorial team! Take this issue for instance; we knew there was going to be a Mustang supplement to celebrate 60 years of the hallowed marque, but the main body of the magazine was wide open in terms of content when we were planning it… yet somehow, we’ve ended up with an issue full of Mopars… and not just any Mopars – blue ones in particular! Although our annual supplement has had a Mustang theme before, this year seemed particularly apt given the six-decade milestone – with Ford’s perennial pony car looking set to gallop on into the future…

A thing of beauty… or woe?! Dear Classic American, I am a little behind on my reading of CA due to a protracted stay out of the country, so I am still catching-up on back-issues. In the March issue you featured the fascinating photographs snapped by John Picard of American cars in and around Blackpool during the Sixties. One photo that leapt off the page at me was the 1961 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 – in my view one of the most attractive cars of the whole decade. Imagine my dismay when you described the ‘skegs’ (upside down tailfins) as “woeful”!
