To my darling Caitlin,
Did you know how loved you were before you were even born?
I remember smiling, with one hand on my bump and the other flicking through tiny outfits on the shop rail with your big sister Janey, 8.
‘Can we get this, Mummy?’ she asked, pointing to a pink sleepsuit with an embroidered slogan, Best Little Sister.
‘Of course!’ I winked.
It was February 2017 and we were both itching to meet you, Caitlin. We’d chosen your name, your cot sat waiting, blankets folded, teddies ready.
Your daddy Richard, 34, was so excited, too – and finally, our magic moment arrived in the early hours of 22 April.
You arrived, weighing 6lb 3oz, with porcelain skin, dark hair.
We made the hardest decision of our lives…
