Popping my toddler Verity, 2, into her favourite pink pyjamas and running a brush through her soft blonde hair, it was finally time for bed.
Following an afternoon spent running around the back garden in spring 2017, she was exhausted.
‘Night, night, darling,’ I said, planting a kiss on her forehead, her eyelids already drooping.
