As Amber stroked his neck, Shocks was almost smiling! Curled up under the covers, I was fast asleep when I suddenly awoke.
Immediately, I clutched my baby bump and groaned.
‘I think I’m in labour!’ I said, nudging my husband Julian, 44.
‘No chance, go back to sleep,’ he replied.
It was June 2010, and I was only 26 weeks pregnant with twins.
So I tried to relax and, eventually, dozed off.
But, an hour later, I awoke with even stronger tummy pains.
Worried, we headed to hospital, where a midwife confirmed I was in labour.
‘I have to warn you, both babies will have a fight on their hands,’ she said to us.
‘I know,’ I sobbed.
Twelve hours later, our girls Hope and Amber arrived, weighing just 1lb…
