The tumours in his neck, spine and chest had grown I’ll never forget the moment I first saw Steve Legge’s warm smile. Out shopping, in June 2012, my friend introduced us.
I fancied him instantly but, both shy, we didn’t even speak.
Three months on, during a night out, I spotted that cute grin across the bar.
Chatting, swapping numbers, we had a few dates and, in November 2012, became an item.
Teenagers in love, we should’ve been on top of the world.
But, that month, Steve was awaiting some test results.
He had a lump the size of an orange on the back of his neck.
‘I think it’s cancer,’ Steve said.
Cancer?
He was only 18.
