Watching as the crowds began to gather in the darkness, I could feel the excitement building.
With the clear tubes of festive shapes dotted about my mum Rosemary’s garden and climbing up the side of my childhood home, I knew exactly what to expect.
And there was no way I’d ever get sick of it.
‘Is everyone ready?’ I called out, receiving cheers from everyone around us.

As the last word hung in the air, the darkness vanished.
